Did anyone see this?

They did the most lame Canadian news sketch. It was so unfunny it almost made me think it was that bad on purpose. They were speaking with these weird scandinavian/irish accents that didn't remotely resemble any Cdn I've ever heard, and I've been in remote Newfoundland.

It was painful. Maybe if you were REALLY stoned it would be funny? You should download SNL and watch it just to see how awful it was. The show was very disappointing actually. His monologue was great, but after that the only decent thing was Weekend Update.

I actually thought the episode as a whole was better than most this season, but I'm with you on that "Canada" sketch. Although I admit to laughing when they said, "But the road was closed" and when the producer was a moose, mostly because of the hilariously bad moose prop. It was just so cliched and obvious that I also assumed it was intentional.

I also have no idea where Americans get the idea that Canadians have these bizarre accents. Sure, there are Francophone accents and Newfoundland accents, but there's no "Canadian" accent that I know of. I speak with a lot of American customers in my work and they're usually quite surprised to learn that I'm not American as well.

On the other hand, I regularly speak to folks from New Jersey and Virginia whose accents I can barely understand.

I find anyone from Northern Ontario to Saskatchewan speak with a particular accent.

But not that one on the show. That was bad. It was a really bad Alaskan accent mixed with a bunch of other bad accents.

This is pretty much what I have been feeling about SNL for years now.

I'm a fan of Kristen Wiig (sp) and Jason Sudeikas (sp). I actually think the cast is really good right now and have been enjoying the season. But Saturday's fell flat. And I'm a big fan of Zach.

The Dana Carvey episode was great pretty much all the way through.

I do miss the Ladies Sports skits...I guess without the Maguyver guy they just can't do them...

Watched a couple of skits. Blah. Monologue was great though.

That line, especially the interaction with the guy in the band, was golden

Just caught it... not a bad show, it was better than the last few for sure. The Canada sketch was strange... caught a lot of Irish, Scottish, and a bit of Swedish... They should have just hired the Kids in the Hall boys to do it, I think Lorne has some connections. Wasn't big on the musical guest but the backup band was smokin'... nice legs... I still keep with SNL, there are some jems every now and again.
