Who is the best friend you made from GC? Figured it might be a nice thread, rather than all those "lets derail and hate each other" threads.

I'd met Drumwaiter only once before GC. Then later, while not understanding the internet, called him French. Now, we're good pals.

How's about you guys?

(Toned down 'cause he's all spoken for... we'll never be the same.)

I only know zmd, Lash and hooligans in real life. I met Jilldo once.

Fantastic bunch, really. :)

I mostly just stalk everyone on twitter. .____.

Zmd sells me stuff
Drumwaiter gave me stuff for doing stuff
Christian Leblanc & MikeofRogers let me play Solitaire during a couple of their shows & stuff

I think those are the only GC people I've met more than once or twice

PBiz, clinton, and kellymaraschino are the ones that stand out as people that I've become good friends with. However I've met a lot of other people on here that I think are great that I may not talk to as much. Then there are the people that I met indirectly through GC that are great too.

I've yet to have a bad experience with GC people in real life.

I first started chatting with S-Train on Giraffecycle in 2007. We're getting married next May.

I don't know if you can win a thread, but I think I just did.

I met Peter at Gamble's birthday party.
He was drunk and pretending be a guy named Andre. I have a feeling that is probably the best way to meet him.

Mwil, although we didn't meet on the internet. We met because he handed me a GC zine and then started ICQing me.

edit: as far as friend-friends go, I guess C.S. Graves, TheVoid, Drumwaiter, Panik, zmd & Lister rank pretty high for me.

Tough question. I have a lot of awesome friends I've met as a direct or indirect result of GC. I'd have to say all members of Penny Blacks and their significant others. I'm really lucky to play with those guys. Not only are they great musicians, but pretty awesome people as well.

Best in person meeting was PBiz at willy wanka's apartment in Halifax right before the KISS concert.

Peter "Erin! You're giggleycraft. I've quoted you!"

Jake, notfarnow worked really hard to find us a house with some *really* specific requirements. We even had a good time looking at houses with him.

Drumwaiter made sure we got an awesome dog. Pepper and Dexter are now best buds, and I can't sit down without a dog being on my lap (even if he's a little big to be a lap dog I love him).

GC is what started my "real" life. I grew from there. There is a big handful of people I cherish even though they may not know it or here from me much. I'll list, in no order.

Hooligans
ZMD
Panik
Darlene
Kellymarachino
theVoid
Chica Bella
Throy
Hawk
PBiz
Medusa
Brain
C.S. Graves
Ardent Fan
Gimmechocolateordie

Hope I'm not forgetting, but I like the rest of you a lot and many have played a role in my life.

Oh yeah, I've only met Hawk once, but he was the one that got me interested in cooking, which so far is the only hobby that's come anywhere near rivaling tune making in terms of holding my interests.

Most people I know-- possibly all people I know or at least like-- post here or have posted here. I don't know that I've actually met anyone 100% via GC (possibly m wil), but I would certainly not have any of the friends that I do without it and the community it (sort of) unites regardless.
